HeliOS Application Delivery

The HeliOS Application Delivery Network enables HeliOS users to install applications uploaded to the network by just clicking one link.

This tutorial has two sections.

Guide for uploading your application to the HeliOS Application Delivery Network

Installing applications

To install an application from the HeliOS Application Delivery Network, you will need an installation link.
An installation link usually looks like this:

helios-appdelivery://install/<app-id>

You may notice that this doesn't have HTTP, but a helios-appdelivery:// protocol. Only HeliOS can open these links.

You can get this link from the application's vendor, if the application is registered on the HeliOS Application Delivery Network.

When opening the link, an authentication dialog will appear, asking for your password.
After you have entered your password, please wait for HeliOS Application Delivery to complete the installation. This may take from seconds to up to several minutes. No action is needed while the installation is in progress.
When the installation has completed, the downloaded application will be ran by the gnome-terminal.

Please note that if you are not using GNOME, the application won't open automatically after installation; but it will be installed anyways.

Uploading your software

To make your application installable via the HeliOS Application Delivery Network, you'll need to complete the two following steps.
This process may take 2-5 days.

1. Get a HeliOS Application Certificate

This certificate is needed for uploading content to the HeliOS Application Delivery Network, and can be requested at this form.

After submitting this form, you will receive an email on your given email address in 1-3 days.

If your request has been accepted, you will get your certificate, and it's 6-digit ID.

2. Upload your software

If you have a certificate, you can continue to uploading your application at this form.

You will receive an email when your application has been packaged and uploaded.
